Why This Summit Matters

The industry is changing. Are you?

In an industry where technical specs and jargon often take center stage, marketing can feel like an afterthought. But the truth is this: marketing isn’t fluff. It’s a strategy. It’s leadership. It’s how mining earns trust, builds brands, and wins work.

This Summit brings together mining marketers, business developers, and storytellers to build the future of communication in mining. Whether you’re a one-person marketing department or a seasoned BD pro, this is your invitation to sharpen your tools, grow your impact, and rethink how you show up.

Killer marketing for mining. Cape is optional.

Meet The Summit Instructors

Marketers are more than just a team that “make things look pretty.” They’re your strategic translators, your value amplifiers, your brand protectors, and your culture creators. When marketing is part of the conversation early, your message hits harder, your pitch lands cleaner, and your whole team moves faster.

Get inspired by our instructors. They live and breathe marketing, business development, and storytelling in mining. These heroes combine expertise with creativity and stand among the very best marketers the industry has to offer.

Our instructors show that marketing is a discipline that strengthens everything it touches.

During her interview for her first role in the industry, Peggy was asked to edit a white paper. Ever the meticulous writer, she confidently changed every instance of the word assay to assess, unknowingly removing references to geochemistry. Despite the mix-up, the Global VP of Marketing insisted on hiring her. Technical terms, they said, could be taught. But great writing? That was a gift.

This workshop is about why you exist. More than colours and logos, branding is about the promise you make to your clients and stakeholders, the voice you use to communicate, and the reason you are in business.

One must know their why before they begin their how.

She was named to the “100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining” list in 2018 and currently leads Stantec’s campaign to grow mine closure services.

As a young adult she was inspired by the song Born to Run which led her to spend more than 10 years living and working internationally. Conveniently, mining – with its international reach – offered her an opportunity to channel this Wanderlust into a professional career.

Resa has spent much of her career managing up. This includes carefully conveying to her bosses a) why they are wrong and b) what they should do about it, without getting fired – at least, not yet. She will share secrets of ‘managing from the middle’ which is short for getting things done without authority and using that to get ahead.

Director of Marketing & BD

With more than 15 years of experience in consulting and contracting, she specializes in A/E/C-style marketing and organic business development rooted in authentic connection.

Like many others who find their way into this sector, Laura didn’t intentionally choose a career in mining – it chose her! Fifteen years later, she’s choosing it right back. As the daughter of an engineer, Laura is a self-proclaimed “Engineer Interpreter,” and her psychology degree comes in surprisingly handy when crafting messages that resonate with technical audiences.

This workshop is designed for marketing professionals and business development practitioners in technical fields who want to move beyond generic strategies. Our team is here to teach you not only the “nuts and bolts” of A/E/C-style marketing, but all the other fasteners that hold successful strategies and campaigns together.

Named to the 2024 “100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining” list and recipient of the 2025 Medal of Merit for Young Professionals, she transitioned from five years as an underground grade control geologist into mining marketing and communications.

My defining moment came during my first trip underground as a geology student. I cried a little before going down because I was TERRIFIED. But once I was there, that fear melted away and I was absolutely amazed. Standing where so few people have stood before, seeing how light illuminates things differently in the darkness. My career since then has been about trying to share that moment with others, shining light in the darkness, and helping people see what I see.

My promise is to help you communicate with the same authenticity that brought you into this industry, creating content that builds trust, changes perceptions, and helps others discover their own underground moment.

They lead story-driven marketing campaigns to translate technical geophysics into clear, trustworthy narratives that promote mining and strengthen client relationships.

“I started my career in marketing when I was about 5 years old. I discovered that my creative thinking was useful for getting candy and lots of TV time. TV time meant lots of commercials, which I would promptly act out to friends and family to get more candy. Today, not much has changed, except now I call it “marketing,” and I get paid in direct deposits instead of peanut M&Ms.”

This marketing workshop is for people who want to promote ideas and services that matter. Our team will help you communicate with clarity and build trust within your industry and with your clients.

Our promise is to help you tell stories that make lasting relationships and create meaningful change that moves mining forward.

Thank you to To AMEA for this summit

For years, the AEMA Annual Meeting has been one of the marquee gatherings for America’s mining industry. It is a place where innovation meets tradition, technical know-how connects with business ambition, and colleagues become collaborators.

That is exactly why we are here. We believe mining is not the backdrop, it can be the hero. The stories we tell, the brands we build, and the messages we carry are just as essential as the work underground or the policy work above ground.
